What is sea buckthorn?
Sea buckthorn is a shrub bearing bright orange berries known for a range of health benefits. They are rich in vitamins A, C and E, in beta-carotene and in iron.
The berries can be eaten raw or cooked in all sorts of recipes for a tart note. Our organic Québec sea buckthorn pulp is seedless, which makes it far easier to cook with.
How do you use sea buckthorn pulp?
Sea buckthorn pulp is versatile, and there are many ways to bring it into your cooking. A few ideas:
-
In smoothies : add a spoonful of sea buckthorn pulp to a smoothie for a burst of vitamins and freshness. It works well with apple, orange or banana.
-
As a compote or jam : mix the pulp with sugar or honey to make a compote or jam, to spread on toast or add to desserts.
-
In drinks : dilute the pulp in hot water for a reviving infusion. You can also add it to tea for a fruity, tart note.
-
In sauces and dressings : stir the pulp into sauces or dressings for a tart note with real nutritional benefit.
