Coconut-soy candles hand-poured in Vancouver, one tree per candle.
Melody Lim started Mala in Vancouver in 2019 after a trip through Europe and a candlemaker in Milos. The candles are hand-poured in the city from coconut and soy wax with wood or cotton wicks, packaged without plastic, and a tree is planted for every full-size candle sold.

My favourite candle!
I've purchased my fair share of candles throughout the years and Golden Hour is one of my favourite scents! I burn it when the weather is gloomy and I instantly feel so cozy and warm. The scent fills my room but is not overwhelming and the crackling from the wood wick makes me so content. Highly recommend!

Scent is too artificial, if you can even manage to maintain the flame
Some reviewers clearly enjoy this scent, but it's not for me. I find it nauseatingly artificial and I don't even want to burn it through. That aside, this candle is very frustrating to use. The complimentary matches snap really easily, which I may overlook, but it's very difficult to get this candle to stay lit with a different lighter, despite following Mala's instructions. I've used several other wood wick candles before without any issues. The quality of the wax pour is questionable to me because the candle surface appears bubbly and bumpy after use. My other candles stay smooth. I will not purchase again.
