What is mugwort?

Originally European, artemisia now grows widely in North America. Pperennial valued for its silvery leaves and aromatic scent. It is commonly found in Québec meadows, among other wild herbs.

How do you use mugwort?

This plant is commonly grown in Japanese kitchen gardens as an everyday herb. It is popular in mochi rice cakes, for both flavour and colour.

In cooking it is used mostly alongside rich, fatty foods. It can be infused into broths and slow-cooked dishes. In short, it works with a wide range of flavours. Here is our recipe for Touski soup using mugwort as a seasoning.
